Presentation of the results of a study on identifying the needs in hydrometeorological services

On November 11, 2020, M-Vector Company specialists in Tajikistan took part in a round table meeting "Prospects for the development of services of the Agency for Hydrometeorology and Cooperation with Stakeholders."
The event was organized by the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan jointly with the Project Implementation Group "Water Resources Management in Pyanj River Basin" (Additional Financing). The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Agency itself, PI "Water Resources Management in Pyanj River Basin" (Additional Financing), representatives of various ministries and departments of the Republic of Tajikistan, "Barqi Tojik", telecommunication companies, media and other stakeholders.
Participants discussed methods of promoting hydrometeorological services and products, studied international experience in this area, discussed the possibilities and foundations of the Agency's cooperation with stakeholders, and also considered the stakeholders’ proposals to develop such cooperation.
Earlier, within the framework of the announced project, the M-Vector Company implemented a baseline study on identifying the needs of stakeholders in hydrometeorological services. The main purpose of the study was to identify the needs for hydrometeorological services, determine the quality of services, the constraints faced by consumers, as well as to develop recommendations for improving the quality of hydrometeorological services and methods of their transfer to consumers. In addition, during the study, information was obtained on the perception of the mechanism for the distribution of hydrometeorological services.
The research was carried out by face-to-face interview method.
The research results were presented at the Round Table. Also, the specialists of the "M-Vector" company have developed and presented a number of recommendations to enhance the marketing promotion of products and services of the Agency for Hydrometeorology.
