City Prosperity Index Assessed for Bishkek

City Prosperity Index Assessed for Bishkek
Commissioned by the Soros Foundation – Kyrgyzstan, the assessment of the City Prosperity Index for Bishkek was made by M-Vector in accordance with the UN-Habitat international methodology and presented at the 2017 Cities Forum!
Measuring and monitoring the dynamics of urban welfare and development requires collecting data on and keeping track of many dimensions as there is no single indicator. City Prosperity Index (CPI) was designed specifically for integrating all of these dimensions.
CPI not only shows the development level of a city but also allows comparing data between many cities in the world.
It can also serve as a tool for city authorities, local and international organizations to identify the opportunities and potential of various dimensions that could further stimulate city prosperity.
The city of Bishkek ranked 47th on the assessment list with the CPI index value below the average.
For the UN-Habitat to include Bishkek in their report and to provide assistance in monitoring and modifying the CPI, the city authorities should expressly demonstrate their interest therein and take the initiative.
We would like to thank the City Development Agency of Bishkek and the Kyrgyz Republic National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS) for cooperation and providing data for the study.
